Paralysis by Analysis: Fall Layering Edition
If you think we’ve been complaining too much about the weather at the beginning of episodes lately, well, you’re probably right. As we watch Emily Ratajkowski don a robe in the streets of cold New York, we’ve found ourselves going from temperatures in the 90s to the 30s and back to the 90s. Whew.
But a rare sensation occurred when the temperature dove nearly 60 degrees overnight: We looked at our wardrobes and… froze (first figuratively and then literally as I tried to stunt a vest + short sleeves on a dog walk).
Despite our indecision, however, we were finally able to layer. For a few days, at least. We go through some items that have come to the forefront, our favorite fit from the cool days, and how we need to better prepare for this upcoming weekend’s vibe weather shift as well. I, personally, will be getting inspiration from Barrett’s post earlier this week.
Give that man a like and follow.
Vibe Shift Alert: Drink of the Fall
Now that we’re staring Thanksgiving straight in the face, we need to ask ourselves a tough question: “What’s going to give us all a collective hangover on Thanksgiving Day?”
Of course, we had to do some Drink of the Fall research. While I tested out my first Manhattan1 this weekend, it really got my gears turning.
Am I Manhattan guy now? What variations can I make of this drink? Why did I ever order old-fashioneds? Will carajillos finally get the praise they deserve?
While we didn’t include our shortlist of drinks nor did we throw out too many potentials for our DOF, we at least began the conversation. More to come.
A Lapse In Time And Judgment
The absolute last thing I need is another social media app to distract me from the Love Island episode playing in the background, but here I am considering getting another. To anyone who extended an invite to either of us, thank you. While I haven’t RSVP’d “yes” quite yet, I haven’t discarded the invite yet. It’s still sitting squarely on the fridge weighing on me each time I cross paths with it.
Not sure what Lapse is? Well, I wasn’t totally sure before last week either despite it being number two in the App Store. From the New York Times column we referenced during the episode:
Much like Dispo, Lapse encourages people to take pictures the way they did in the analog days, when disposable cameras were all the rage. Users snap photos and “develop” them in the app. When the photos are ready, several hours later, their takers can decide if they want to post them for their Lapse friends or archive them for private viewing.
All photos posted on Lapse must be taken in the app and cannot be altered in any way. There are no visible “like” counts. Instead, friends can react with emojis.

The Jacob Elordi Death Cult
I’m not sure what there is to be said about Jacob Elordi’s Sydney airport that we didn’t already say during the segment. Yes, we fawned over him. Yes, we objectified him. Yes, we may change our entire identity to match this vibe.
Please don’t judge us on anything we said. It all feels like a fever dream now.
Of course, we closed things out with our wishlists and imminent cops.
For 2023, we’ve hit the reset button on our wishlists and made them a bit more digestible for the year ahead. To access the complete version of our 2022 wishlists, look no further than our final Listener Digest of 2022. New items in bold.
