Sunday Read › Where to find media to consume instead of doomscrolling
via
“I just want to be a distraction for someone” is a phrase I often use when discussing Sunday Scaries. After all, we all need distractions whether they’re healthy distractions or not. If I’m guilty of anything in my personal life, it’s overthinking and hyper-fixating on things that I shouldn’t. If I can solve that problem for someone, if even for a moment, then Sunday Scaries has served its purpose on that Sunday (or any other day of the week).
This summer, I’ve been desperately attempting to distract myself for by reading physical books that take me away from my phone. While I don’t think my screentime numbers are anything to be ashamed of overall, I never love finding myself wondering where the last 20 minutes went because I started looking at the reels that my friends liked.
This week’s Sunday Read is a piece I recently discovered that has a healthy diet of media to consume that isn’t what I just described above. Here’s her explanation of it:
Finding the media that you want to consume when there is a vast and endless sea of information can be quite overwhelming. When I started on my journey of mindful media consumption I had zero clue of where I could start, however, slowly but surely, I began to find so many amazing sources that are now part of the ecosystem I have built for myself. I wanted to make this process slightly easier for you by sharing the knowledge that I have gathered so far. Even though I love sharing my media roundups every week, I thought of doing something a bit different as I believe that having access to an array of resources to be able to do independent research and to tailor your own digital experience is SO important. Hope you find this useful <3

Additionally, I wrote earlier this week about some fall inspiration I’m gravitating toward by way of items I’ve found on eBay. Is it too early to look toward fall? Perhaps. But it won’t stop me from doing so —
My Fall Aesthetic, Part I: Vintage Finds
The biggest reason I love Sundays is because they have a tangible feel to them. When it’s Sunday, you know it’s Sunday. Sure, Mondays have a certain vibe but it’s one that none of us like. Tuesdays just feel like a different version of Monday, Wednesdays are unremarkable, Thursdays have a buzz that pales in comparison to Friday. But Sundays stand on their own.

A quiet night in,
sleeping in but not too late,
a day of nothing.
