My Fall Aesthetic, Part One: Vintage Finds

Vests, barn coats, and totes — oh my.

The biggest reason I love Sundays is because they have a tangible feel to them. When it’s Sunday, you know it’s Sunday. Sure, Mondays have a certain vibe but it’s one that none of us like. Tuesdays just feel like a different version of Monday, Wednesdays are unremarkable, Thursdays have a buzz that pales in comparison to Friday. But Sundays stand on their own.

I think the same applies to fall compared to all the other seasons. No matter how much I’m enjoying the sweet fruits of summer, my mind will never not drift to the coziness of my favorite season. Warm coffee tastes better, You’ve Got Mail somehow makes more sense, and you never really feel the need to clean up the unkempt blankets strewn about the couch.

I previously had a series called My Fall Aesthetic where I’d discuss things like the Thanksgiving football episode of Friends, recreating 90s celebrity paparazzi outfits from Tumblr, and generally being intentionally insufferable. In all reality, however, they were some of my favorite things to write.

While I know it’s still too early to be thinking this far forward, I simply can’t help it. To begin this year, here’s everything I’ve been shopping lately on eBay to get excited.

Patagonia Vintage Puffball Vest Sleeveless Half Zip

I’m not sure why I gravitate toward a half-zip vest when it’s far less functional than a full-zip, but no one can tell me the aura isn’t off the charts with this thing. I can just see an oversized long sleeve tee busting out of the armholes. You can even class it up with a button-down shirt complete with Obama-style rolled sleeves. Will it mess your hair up every time you want to peel it off? Of course. But will people gasp and drool into their buckets of beer on game day when you stroll into the bar? Also of course.
