I’d be lying if I didn’t say that it feels good to be back. After a couple week hiatus, we came to the table with a lot of built-out topics that lead to one of our longest episodes to date. Let’s not waste any time here.
Becks!
When Barrett texted me asking if I had watched the Beckham docu-series on Netflix yet, I was honestly appalled that he even had to ask. Being a self-described Anglophilic Manchester United supporter, the first two episodes were appointment television when I heard they were being released.
And while it was enjoyable to watch the behind-the-scenes footy footage, what really stood out for Retail Therapy purposes was his fits. Going through some of the earlier fits from the episodes, the ladcore vibes really couldn’t be stronger.
I mean, have mercy. And their all-purple wedding wardrobe? Wheeeeeeew.
The Water Bottle Vibes Are Constantly Shifting
Who would’ve thought a water bottle would ruin No Coptober for everyone? Well, maybe not for Barrett but the deFries family is absolutely gasping for air until November.
Every season, it feels like there’s a new “it” water bottle that sells out online only to be replaced a few months later. This week, we briefly discussed Sally’s new favorite, the 40-ounce Traveler from Hydrojug.
Being that Barrett is a dedicated water bottler, I had to pepper him with questions. Are you water bottle loyal? Do you judge others on water bottles? Is there a stigma to them?
Whether you’re a hippie with a Nalgene or simply a Yeti-enthusiast, feel free to weigh in.
Entering Our Cowboy Era
Well, it finally happened. I finally followed in my father’s footsteps and have admitted that I’m afraid of going full-cowboy. At least until the end of the year.
Not only did I make an impulse purchase that I wore on this week’s show (see above), but I also sprinted to the nearest Tecovas store this week and picked up some starter boots.
On the heels of last week’s discussion over Big Dumb Hats, I had to ask Barrett: “Is my quest to become Cowboy Bob Weir all for nothing?”
And some recent articles/drops of note.
At the tail-end of the episode, we covered some recent releases that tickled our collective fancies.
Taylor Kelce has inspired a new way of looking at fashion. It’s called “Nobu style” and it’s probably something we’ve all been guilty of. [GQ]
The WHOLE squad is getting fitted in Skims For Him. The only travesty is that the new nipple bra dropped while we were recording so we couldn’t break that down as well. [Business of Fashion]
Buck Mason’s new Eddie Bauer collab is the unexpected heat we didn’t know we needed this FW23. [Buck Mason]
Unfortunately on the heels of Buck Mason x Eddie Bauer, the Palace x Barbour collab didn’t hit as hard. [Palace]
Of course, we closed things out with our wishlists and imminent cops.
For 2023, we’ve hit the reset button on our wishlists and made them a bit more digestible for the year ahead. To access the complete version of our 2022 wishlists, look no further than our final Listener Digest of 2022. New items in bold.
