It is my absolute pleasure to have your attention today. The entire reason Retail Therapy exists is because of the original fall fashion episodes we did in 2020 and 2021. After their success, it was evident that Barrett and I had something on our hands when it came to doing an offshoot podcast from The Sunday Scaries Podcast.
This week, we covered it all. Or, at least, we did our best to. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s Men’s Fall Fashion episode. And yes, our In/Out Lists are linked at the bottom as well. Feel free to unhash those any way you’d like. A comment if your personal In/Out list would be the best.
“What am I going to see while shopping this fall?”
After perusing my normal sites (and Barrett perusing his), we put together a list of things to keep an eye out this year.
Rugbys, Rugbys, and More Rugbys
Discussing rugby shirts in the middle of fall. Wow, how novel. I know, I know, it’s not exactly mind-blowing stuff to start with. But while rugby shirts are a fall staple, there’s simply more of them this year. Here are a few of the options we looked at:
Arcing some fatties in the ‘roy.
Of course, the ladies can wear corduroy too. This week, however, we obviously honed in on some of the corduroy styles we’ve been fantasizing about lately. While it’s easy to default to pants, our minds were more on shirts and hats.

Outdoorsy without having to be outdoors.
Perhaps it’s because we’re shifting the vibe more and more away from the COVID days, but it feels as though we’re reaching some levels that are more “tough guy” than they were before. Your camos, your hunting silhouettes, your tonal palates — they all “give outdoorsy” in some way or another.
Twill Tapestry Shirtjacket from Abercrombie
Quilted Vest from Aime Leon Dore
Lasso Sweater by Bode
Stealing valor (by way of pants)
Whether you’re rocking double-knee pants or trademark Nice Pants™, there’s never been more pressure to bring it on the pants front these days. No, your normal sale-priced chinos won’t turn heads anymore. I’ll be stealing valor from carpenters yet again this year, don’t judge me.
Double Knee Pant from Carhartt WIP
Louis Cord Pant from Manresa
Five Pocket Jeans from Drakes
You don’t gotta go to work work work work work.
It’s our humble opinion that the “work jacket” is probably better used at play. While most people will be deferring to full-zip jackets this season, we did eventually establish that buttons are still acceptable too.

Belt it out.
It was only when Barrett brought up belts that I felt like I wanted to crawl into a hole. My belt game is absolutely lacking, which is why this particular segment hit hardest for me.
Spur Belts by Sid Mashburn
Western Belt by Nudie Jeans
Studded Belt from Stussy
Braided Leather Belt by Aime Leon Dore
Tees comin’ from overseas (or a fulfillment center somewhere near Louisville, probably)
If it’s fall, it’s time for some long sleeve tees. Whether curling up on the couch or heading out to watch some Saturday afternoon college football, here are a couple options.

The Fall-Winter In/Out Lists
We’re not here to discuss our lists, we’re simply here to present them. Without any additional explanations, here are each of our lists in their classic Notes app form.
Note: Because we talked about a million different products we wanted over the course of this episode, we somehow skipped wishlist items this week.
Of course, we closed things out with our wishlists and imminent cops.
For 2023, we’ve hit the reset button on our wishlists and made them a bit more digestible for the year ahead. To access the complete version of our 2022 wishlists, look no further than our final Listener Digest of 2022. New items in bold.
