Welcome to The Sunday Digest — a free Sunday newsletter featuring long (and some short) reads, original columns, things I’ve saved over the last week, relaxing playlists, episodes releases, exclusive product drops, and more. Sunday Read: The Long Goodbye
by Jeff Weiss for Spin
We’re enough removed at this point to know what it was. Despite the numerous pieces published immediately following Dead & Company’s “final” tour, the mourning period simply didn’t feel long enough as I read one even before final show occurred. Reading about them on the plane ride home felt too planned; too timely.
But this week, Spin published a piece that may be looked at as one of the more enjoyable eulogies for the tour that was.
And if you’re tired of Dead and Company content, well, this will probably be the last long read I offer about them unless Hunter S. Thompson somehow writes something posthumously that I can’t ignore.
Here’s an excerpt.
If you are not born for this time or are seized by the notion that you took a wrong turn at some foggy crossroads but cannot retrace the trail, these songs strike a mystic chord. Ballads of death and self-destruction suffused with strength and determination. Phantom ships searching for a deeper truth, the reconciliation of contradictions, the admittance of human flaw. Something quintessentially American in their ambition, genius, indulgence, and grandeur. It’s also a fun time.

New Episode › Announcement: The Sunday Scaries Podcast
Well, it was time. The Sunday Scaries Podcast is pressing pause for a bit. While there are numerous reasons behind this, I'm actually incredibly excited to take a much-needed break and allow Retail Therapy to grow into itself.
For the last five years, The Sunday Scaries Podcast has truly been my baby. After taking a three-year break from the brand overall, diving back in through the podcast was a ride with a lot of turns I could’ve never anticipated. I’m not kidding when I say that it ushered in some of the best years of my life which is why this is more of a “pause” than anything.
I'll be in touch — I promise.

The Sunday Haiku: Long Weekend
Yes, it’s a Sunday,
but it feels like Saturday,
which is fine by me.
Things I Saved This Week

Our team over at Washed has started a weekly newsletter featuring a few original pieces. This week, I did a “Worst Weekend”-style write-up about a classic fraternity tailgate. Ahhh, fall is in the air.
