Welcome to The Sunday Digest — a free Sunday newsletter featuring long (and some short) reads, original columns, things I’ve saved over the last week, relaxing playlists, episodes releases, exclusive product drops, and more. Yes, you can reply to this email. I’d love to hear from you. Or, if podcasts are more your speed on Sundays, we’ve got that too.
Sunday Read: Who decides what the drink of the summer is?
via Sarah Drumm on Thingtesting
I’m staunchly anti-Dirty Shirley. If you’ve brought that drink up around me, I have blatantly told you that I hate everyone trying to “make it a thing.” It’s an unsustainable summer cocktail that will only end in all of us getting cavities.
With that being said, any discussion that falls into the “What’s going to be the [insert literally anything] of the summer?” is a discussion that I’d like to be a part of.
This week’s Sunday Read answers the question, “Brands, media outlets and trend forecasters want you to know what the summer's hottest beverage is. Why?”
Here’s an excerpt:
Beverages that have been labeled the “drink of the summer” in the past have included tequila seltzer, hibiscus tea, Aperol Spritz and rose wine. 2019 was named “The Summer of White Claw” by the Atlantic, while last year a number of publications including the Huffington Post and New York Times rather unexpectedly claimed the espresso martini — a drink better known for its cozy, rather than thirst-quenching, qualities — was what was on everyone’s minds as summer rolled in.
I should note that I’ve blatantly stolen this week’s read from my friend Phil’s newsletter, Lunch Reads, which you should be subscribed to at this point.
The Sunday Haiku: Decisions, Decisions
Donut or croissant?
Maybe a scone would be good,
I just can’t decide.

New Episode: Retail Therapy 012 › Lymphatic Drainage & Love Island UK
On the heels of a big weekend, we were feeling pretty gross and puffy which (obviously) introduced a Hailey Bieber-inspired discussion surrounding lymphatic drainage massages. We also dip into the bougie summer vacations of professional athletes, Love Island UK's separation from fast fashion, and some wishlist additions.
You can also read the entire Listener Companion for this episode which features articles, product links, and more.
