Harry Styles Takes Over Austin
As I sat at a restaurant enjoying an early dinner this week, I looked around me and noticed several people dressed in similar garb — sequins, cowboy boots, bright cowboy hats, and more “going out” tops than I’ve ever seen on a Monday night. And after the puzzled look at on my face for long enough, my wife finally explained it to me: “They’re all going to Harry Styles.”
Taking a break from the Don’t Worry Darling spotlight, Harry Styles did a six-night residency in Austin that truly took over the city. As for Retail Therapy listeners, we were lucky enough to have Barrett attend and give us a full rundown.
Butter & Tinned Fish: The New Charcuterie
Are charcuterie boards… out? This is a valid question. Not only has my affinity for attacking the prosciutto portion waned in recent days, but I simply don’t feel like we’re all collectively obsessed with them like we used to be.
Luckily, there are ample replacements on their way. Two, actually — butter boards and tinned fish boards. Not sure what I’m talking about? Well, here you go.
As you can see from above, butter boards are fairly straightforward — a board, some spreadable butter, herbs, spices, capers, anything, and some bread to dredge through it. Cheaper than charcuterie and probably just as tasty, all with no shortage of varying recipes out there.
Tinned fish boards are also rearing their heads. More similar to a charcuterie board than your butter board, this board is guaranteed to be a bit saltier than most. But if you’re hungover on your couch watching Hocus Pocus 2, that’s not a bad thing.
Hoodies, Long Coats, and Hoodies with Long Coats
After spending too much time scrolling Tumblr, I began to realize I was being fed a look that has been around for a few years now — hoodies with long coats. Not only did this inspire a larger conversation about the combination, but we also dove into buying the proper pieces to make it work.
In? Out? Have any recommendations for us? We want to hear from you.
