Retail Therapy 018: The Fall Fashion Forecast
Chunky boots, comfy trousers, and fuzzy cardigans.

Sure, it may be too hot to even begin thinking about wearing a cardigan to grab a coffee but what’s better than simply talking about fall fashion? Exactly.
Barrett’s Fall Fashion Forecast
With today being the last day of August, it was hard for us to not have our sights set on fall fashion. I mentioned this early on in the episode but the entire reason Barrett and I started doing Retail Therapy was because of the success we saw with two regular episodes he joined me on — The Fall Fashion Episode and The Sunday Scaries Holiday Gift Guides.
While I can’t speak for Barrett, I think it’s safe to assume that fall is our favorite season to dress for. The sweaters, the work pants, the boots, the jackets — it all adds up to a season full of choices and combinations that all seem to work together a little too well.
Barrett was pretty comprehensive with his three forecasted trends this year, so here are links to everything (well, most of) what he and I discussed.

Barrett also referenced a screenshot of some women’s trousers, which you can find here.
It should be worth noting that we are absolutely going to continue talking fall fashion as we move forward this season. Next week, we’re diving into some listener questions for the first time. As we inch closer to that episode, make sure to follow @retail.pod to make sure you can submit your question when the prompt is live.
Carry-On My Wayward Son
I’m down. Down bad.
The realization that London Heathrow’s luggage situation has nuked any ambitions of checking a bag next week has left me with the daunting task of fitting ten days worth of clothes into two small carry-ons. Because I’m desperate for some help and some packing tips, here’s the situation for you:
Gone for 10 days, 9 nights
Two (2) full days in London, the rest in Italy
Weather ranging from sun to chances of rain; high-50s to low-80s
Packing in an Away Larger Carry-On + a small duffle
Do we try to figure out a way to do laundry over there? Do we vacuum seal everything? Am I completely over thinking this? I think the answer to all those questions is “yes,” but still, I need your help.

As always, we closed things out with our wishlists and imminent cops.
Apologies for any broken links below — a lot of these products are now from older seasons or have since sold out, so our link situation will remain in flux.

I’m currently on day 7 of a 22 day trip to Ireland, Switzerland, and France. Ireland has been typically cool, and I also had to pack for warm/thunderstormy (as well as two formal weddings). I managed it in the smaller Paravel carryon, a smaller Lands’ End duffle, and a backpack. Will be doing laundry midway through in Geneva but think I could’ve made it without for a trip half that length! I did use packing cubes (not vacuum bags) but don’t think they’ve done much for me so far. It’s been a tight squeeze but working so far. Pack with fabric type in mind, and decant some wrinkle releaser into a travel spray bottle!
Vacuum sealing is great, but if you open the seal mid-trip and are moving locations during the trip it can be challenging to re-pack. The storage cubes are better IMO to keep you organized and for ease of re-packing. If you pack more than one pair of shoes make sure you stuff things inside your shoes to maximize space. My experience with this: I had a carry-on and small backpack for my 10-day trip to Japan where we spent 2-3 days in various cities. Everything needed to be light enough to move from place to place and not cumbersome to take on public transit. I did wash a couple shirts on the trip.
