Retail Therapy 016: Martha Stewart, Airpods Max, and New J. Crew

Listen to today’s Retail Therapy on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube (see above), and anywhere else podcasts are found.
A (somewhat) major announcement before we dive into today’s listener companion — The Sunday Scaries Podcast and Retail Therapy now have their own YouTube channel where all Scaries content will live.
Support the show by subscribing to the new channel and dipping into the video version of our Retail Therapy episodes. I’m not lying when I say Barrett is an absolute maestro when it comes to pulling up articles, links, items, and more.
Without further ado, this week’s Retail Therapy. Saying it was nice to get back in the studio with Barrett was an understatement, so we went over an hour this week when I really had ambitions of doing around 40 minutes. Let’s dive into this week’s topics.
Martha Stewart x Anti Social Social Club
I know next to nothing about Anti Social Social Club outside of seeing their stuff photographed on celebrities in street style photos. But now I’ll forever know them as “the company that did the collaboration I’d most like to do.”
That collaboration? Well, they just printed a bunch of photos of Martha Stewart eating lobster and oysters on their apparel.
She’s the Forever It Girl™ of Retail Therapy — and that’s just how I like it.
It’s Too Hot For Earmuffs (So Just Use AirPods Max)
I’ve been influenced.
I’m not proud but, again, I’ve been influenced. Into wanting a pair of AirPod Max headphones from Apple in nearly all the colors. The reason? Well, celebrities and influencers on Instagram — duh.
From Timothee Chalamet to the Hadids to random people I probably need to unfollow, they’re simply everywhere this summer.
Here’s a little explanation from Nylon:
Long gone are mini earbuds and flimsy, prone-to-knotting wires. Instead, we present to you: Apple’s AirPods Max, the newest tech accessory must-have for its chunky, wireless, over-the-head style. Though released back in late 2020, the coveted headphones have only recently started popping up on our Instagram and TikTok feeds, and we spotted the gadget throughout fashion month as a rising street style essential, too. It’s also been seen on a bevy of celebrities lately, like Evan Mock, Timothée Chalamet, and Addison Rae, among others.
Still kind of obsessed with these headphones from Bang & Olufsen, though. Just need my Bose headphones to crap out sooner than later so I have an excuse to upgrade.
Actually, maybe I should be careful what I wish for.
J. Crew 2.0 (well… kind of.)
I’ve been shopping at J. Crew since the cast of Dawson’s Creek was featured in their catalogue.
I mean, come on, the vibes are just elite. But ever since 1998, I’ve found myself going in and out of my love affair with them. Over the last few years, however, they’ve been a complete afterthought for not just me but many J-Crewers who thirsted for more.
Did we get more when it came to their Fall ‘22 lookbook from the brain of Brendon Babenzien? Well, not exactly sure.
Yes, it’s an upgrade. No, I’m not sprinting to their site to pre-order anything. But if J. Crew decides to keep upping their game, I’m sure we’ll get somewhere sooner than later.
As always, we closed things out with our wishlists and imminent cops.
Apologies for any broken links below — a lot of these products are now from older seasons or have since sold out, so our link situation will remain in flux.
