The vibes shifted yet again when both Barrett and I showed up to the studio this week wearing tie-dyed shirts. It’s summertime over here at Retail Therapy, and in this episode it truly showed.
A Millennial Episode of Frasier
Yes, I’m talking about caviar bumps. No, I have never done one.
This column from The New York Times dropped shortly after our last recording and it felt like an eternity before we could finally dive in. While the piece itself has several noteworthy quotes, I’ll simply leave you with an explanation for what a “caviar bump” actually is.
“People used to get high off of drugs,” Mr. Han said, laughing, as he crushed the fish eggs against the top of his mouth. “Now, we’re getting high off the food.”
Caviar bumps — in which a dollop of the fish roe is eaten (not snorted) off the back of one’s hand — have become a decadent and naughty way to consume the pricey delicacy at certain restaurants, fashionable bars, art festivals and other showy gatherings.
Time to go crush some beluga in the Carbone bathroom.
Gardening for the price of Goop
Hey, check out this modestly priced gardening set from Dior.
You almost have to respect the absurdity at this point. Coastal grandmothers everywhere are absolutely shaking right now.
This also inspired a look back at these Aime Leon Dore gardening gloves, because everyone needs a pair of Teddy Santis-designed Aime Leon Dore x New Balance gardening gloves.
(…I hate that there’s something about these that I don’t hate. Quick, next topic from today’s episode.)
Totin’ Around
Totes. We all have ‘em, we all love ‘em. And with beach season in full swing, it’s worth having a discussion surrounding what’s in our respective totes along with our everyday carries.
We also talked about the new Instagram account, ironicboatandtote, that’s dedicated to people misusing the LL Bean monogram tool.
A possible Retail Therapy tote in the future? We’ll see. Maybe if you wear your SPF and carry it with you everywhere, we’ll make one for good behavior.
Will’s Ladcore Quote of the Week
“If you feel good walking into the game, wearing the Chanel trainers with the Goyard or Louis Vuitton wash bag, you’re gonna play better. It’s as simple as that, man. If you look good, you feel good, and you’re gonna play well.”

As always, we closed things out with our wishlists and imminent cops.
