Postcards: Cashiers, North Carolina
"Well I was born in ol' Virginia, North Carolina, I did roam."
I hadn’t truly put an “Out of Office” reply on since mid-2023. It’s not something I deploy often because I truly don’t email that much, but sometimes you just know you want (or need) to tune things out.
Last week, my family had the pleasure of staying at High Hampton in Cashiers, North Carolina for our first full-family vacation since becoming a family of four. The property itself is something to behold — and as you’ll see from my film photos before, I definitely enjoyed exploring during some early morning walks before the boys woke up.
Because I’ve been somewhat offline all week, I thought I’d replace this week’s Sunday Digest by introducing a new version of the newsletter, Postcards, where I’ll be dumping most of my film from here on out. While I didn’t see myself getting into film photography as much as I have, it’s become something that’s truly brought me a lot of joy over the last year or so. While it’s always nice to get good photos back, it’s even nicer to extend the joy of something by getting to revisit it from a different perspective days or weeks after when you finally get around to having the film developed.
These photos have been left unedited (mainly because I’ve found my film editing isn’t truly up to snuff yet). I hope you enjoy.
