Postcards: Capri
"I can still see the flowers bloomin' 'round her where we met on the Isle of Capri."
Welcome to Postcards, the photography and travel side of Sunday Scaries. After upgrading my film camera in 2023, film has overtaken my iPhone as my camera of choice. Here you’ll find photos from travels, home, and anywhere in between. To see more, check out the Postcards section of this Substack.
Over the last few years, we’ve been blessed with invites to two different Italian weddings. The most fun question that follows those invites is always, “So what should we do over there after the wedding?” Despite finding ourselves on the Amalfi coast once, Capri was still something that escaped us outside of boating around it.
When we got the opportunity to stay at Jumeirah’s Capri Palace, I knew it was an opportunity I’d regret turning down. After spending a few days in Mallorca, we got on an unintentionally hilarious Ryanair flight and made our way to Italy. After a ferry ride filled with worries about the weather holding during our trip, we finally pulled into Anacapri with smiles on our faces.
Below is a selection of film photos from the trip. Largely unedited, it immediately became one of my favorite batches of photos I’ve ever gotten back.
I also posted some of my personal favorites on Instagram as well.
As always, it began in the lobby. And this was a good one.
When we arrived, it was around 9 p.m. and we were on a time crunch to get to dinner on-time. Though we missed the first few courses, I could still tell through our hurried entrance that we were somewhere I’d not soon forget.

The art surrounding the entire property was truly remarkable, most of which was from artists that had actual name recognition. I was particularly drawn to a Keith Haring original that was easily viewed from my normal post in the lobby.
Whenever I arrive at a hotel after dark, waking up is always one of the more exciting ventures. It’s like a grand unveiling from the view from the room to the natural Italian light that pours into all inches of the property.
Luckily for us, we were situated near the pool. A pool I’ll daydream of until I return.

Our room was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. We stayed in one of the five newly-renovated rooms which all contained everything you’d want out of a room in Capri — a view, a lot of splashy blue color, and enough space to lie out after a long day at the pool or on the water. Here’s a better look at what we saw from our balcony throughout the stay:

Our first full day was spent largely on the water. We took a boat with our group from port around the south and west sides of the island. What began as an overcast and somewhat cool day turned into everything you’d want out of an Italian boat day.

The morning of our second day was spent somewhere that I unexpectedly loved — an olive grove. We walked down the dirt paths learning about the local wildlife, why olives thrived in this area, and their conservation efforts to ensure the land stayed natural and largely untouched.

Once the weather became more consistent (read: more typically Italian), it was time to resume our activities on the water. On this day, we took off from Capri, made our way to Nerano to have lunch at a restaurant we’d visited before, Conca del Sogno. While I’ll never deter anyone from doing a boat day on the last day of their trip, it did make it far more difficult to leave from an emotional level.

Walking through Capri feels like walking through a movie set. I was particularly infatuated with the two-person table overlooking the square. Had I known that existed, I may have made a few calls beforehand in an effort to get time there.
Whether you’re looking for views, vibes, or luxury bags, the walk through Capri is one you could do endlessly without ever getting tired of it. The one part I’ll never forget is the constant smell of flowers.
I can say without hesitation that Capri immediately shot atop my list of places I’ve traveled. While our four nights there did feel like enough in the moment, they probably weren’t. I’ll hopefully be back sooner than I anticipate.
If you have any questions about the stay, please message me or leave a comment. There is a lot that I didn’t cover here that I’d love to help with.

My husband and I sat at the 2 person table at Pulalli overlooking the square. Views were 10/10.
The Vela crewneck, the cliffs, the lobby statue, and the clocktower, heaters in a sea of heaters. What's the limoncello spritz recipe?
