Postcards: The Masters
"...a gentle preamble that suggested something improbably was about to evolve.”
Welcome to Postcards, the photography side of Sunday Scaries. After upgrading my film camera in 2023, film has overtaken my iPhone as my camera of choice. Here you’ll find photos from travels, home, and anywhere in between. To see more, check out the Postcards section of this Substack.
If you enjoy my photography, consider purchasing our zine, Scenes of Note.
My love affair, like so many other love affairs, began in 1997. Sitting on the ground watching Tiger Woods win The Masters with my parents sitting behind me, I remember thinking it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen that hadn’t involved The Detroit Red Wings or Michael Jordan.
From that day on, watching Sunday at The Masters was religion in our family. Parents, kids, aunts, and uncles — it’s an opportunity for us to engage with one another when we otherwise may not have an excuse to (and an excuse to make pimento cheese).
When my cousin, Dana, won four passes for the Tuesday practice round last year, I was lucky enough to be the recipient of one. Upon stepping foot on the grounds, I knew I was in for a trademark day. When I finally received my film back, I couldn’t help but smile ear to ear at a dream come true.
