Postcards: A High Hampton Holiday
A long weekend in Cashiers, North Carolina.
I had never visited North Carolina until July of 2024. Wanting to take our kids on a trip that felt stereotypically ‘summer,’ it had everything we could’ve wanted. A similar situation occurred when we started tossing around ideas for a December trip this year.
While most people likely leave remembering the views of the mountains, I could never shake the cozy of the lodge that everything on the property runs through. Once I started imagining it draped with pines, spruces, and cedars with the holidays, I simply couldn’t stop.
Once we arrived with our older son in tow, all my dreams were confirmed. The tree was illuminating the entrance, it was hard to find a window without a wreath covering it, and the whiskey cocktails tasted like they were meant to be enjoyed there and there alone.
Both times I’ve left High Hampton, I’ve had an indescribable sensation of feeling closer with my son than I was before the trip. It’s a place where you have no choice but to take advantage of all that’s around you — but more important, all that’s not. You have to search to find a television anywhere. It’s easier to pick up and activity than it is to scroll your phone. Days soar by filled with fun, coziness, and memories made.
As you’ll see from the photos I took on this trip, I clearly cannot wait to go back.
The Film
Camera: Nikon Lite Touch Zoom 140 ED AF
Film: Kodak Gold 200 35mm

I made this particular Postcards edition a free post for everyone because most of the film I took had the same view as a lot of my iPhone photos. As for recommendations on the property, you don’t need many — they take care of it all, I promise.
If you do have any questions, don’t hesitate to comment or message me.
